Dome Scores 28 as UCLA Women Win a Home Game

Dora Dome scored 28 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead the UCLA women’s basketball team to an 82-71 win over North Carolina Thursday at the John Wooden Center.

The victory, UCLA’s first at home this season, extended the Bruins’ winning streak to three straight and improved their record to 6-5.

Dome scored 17 points in the second half, including 5 during a 7-0 run that gave the Bruins a 62-51 lead with 8:52 left. The senior forward moved into sixth place on the all-time UCLA scoring list with 1,212 points.

Kathy Wilson led North Carolina, which fell to 6-3, with 17 points.

The Bruins, who never trailed, scored the first five points of the game and led at halftime, 36-29. North Carolina opened the second half with a 10-4 run that cut UCLA’s lead to 40-39 at the 16:59 mark.

The Tar Heels closed within one point on two other occasions, the last at 49-48 with 12:53 remaining. But UCLA scored the next six points and the Tar Heels didn’t threaten after that.

UCLA made 44.4% of its field goal attempts while North Carolina hit on 42.6% of its shots. The Bruins outrebounded the Tar Heels, 44-29.
