Share

A barroom altercation Friday in Beaumont between a man and a woman left both of them dead and a third man critically wounded, Beaumont police reported.

The incident began when the man entered the Longhorn Bar looking for his girlfriend. As a heated dispute broke out between the two, several patrons took sides, police said. A brawl ensued and the man pulled a gun and began firing wildly as people fled the bar, according to police dispatcher Debie Hudson.

Jim Cline, 51, a patron, was struck in the chest.

The woman fled and ran into a nearby trailer with her boyfriend in pursuit.

A SWAT team was called after shots were heard from inside the trailer. The team waited four hours before forcing its way in.
