ST. LOUIS — Right-hander Danny Cox, one of eight St. Louis players eligible for salary arbitration, has signed a 1988 contract for terms not disclosed, the Cardinals said Tuesday.
Cox, 28, compiled an 11-9 record and 3.88 earned-run average in 31 starts over 199 innings last season. His victories included both St. Louis’ title-clincher in the National League East and its pennant-winner Oct. 14 against the San Francisco Giants.
Cox, the team’s 13th-round draft choice in June 1981, advanced through every minor league classification to make it to the Cardinals’ roster during a 15-week period in 1983.
