Harold Matson, Literary Agent for Top Authors

Harold Matson, 89, a literary agent who represented William Saroyan, Malcolm Lowry, C.S. Forester, Evelyn Waugh, Robert Ruark and many others. A former newspaperman, Matson joined a literary agency whose clients included Sinclair Lewis before branching out into his own firm. His agency was one of the first to negotiate film contracts with the studios themselves rather through West Coast agents. In New York City on Tuesday.
