San Diego
A San Diego police detective arrested a bank robbery suspect covered with red dye shortly after he walked out of a bank in Southeast San Diego with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.
Gabe Phillips, 31, described as a transient, was arrested near 47th and C streets by Detective Gil Padillo.
Police spokesman Bill Robinson said Phillips was questioned and turned over to the FBI, which investigates bank robberies.
Phillips allegedly entered California First Bank, 1666 Euclid Ave., at 10:05 a.m. and presented the teller with a note demanding money, police said.
The robber received a bag of money containing a dye pack with a timed explosive.
At 10:14 a.m., police arrested Phillips, who was covered in dye, Robinson said.
