Clippers Get Day Off--in Philadelphia

Share

The Clippers, who arrived here with a season-high eight-game losing streak, held a team meeting Thursday night in an attempt to figure out what’s wrong.

Coach Gene Shue called off practice so that he could scout college players, and the day off was welcomed by the team, which has lost the first 4 games of its 7-game, 13-day trip against Eastern Conference teams.

The Clippers (8-20) will play the Philadelphia 76ers tonight at the Spectrum, where their franchise has lost its last 17 games dating back to Oct. 31, 1975. Coincidentally, Shue was coaching the 76ers the last time they lost to the Buffalo Braves, who later became the Clippers.

Los Angeles beat Philadelphia last month at the Sports Arena, ending a 14-game losing streak, but the 76ers (14-15) have rebounded from a five-game losing streak by winning their last two games.
