Kings-Blackhawks Game Matches NHL’s Two Worst Defenses

The Kings, who have won only once in their last nine games here, meet the Chicago Blackhawks tonight at Chicago Stadium in a matchup of the two worst defensive teams in the National Hockey League.

The Kings, who had a four-game unbeaten streak ended Friday night at Detroit, have allowed 199 goals in 43 games, an average of 4.6 a game.

The Blackhawks, who have lost four of their last five games in Chicago Stadium, have given up 176 goals in 41 games, an average of 4.3.

Chicago’s Denis Savard, the NHL’s No. 3 scorer with 24 goals and 53 assists, had a goal and two assists in a 7-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs Friday night.

King Notes

The Kings have allowed 3.8 goals a game and are 6-8-1 since Coach Robbie Ftorek replaced Mike Murphy Dec. 9. . . . The Kings, who haven’t won at Chicago since the 1983-84 season, are 1-5-3 in Chicago Stadium in the last six seasons. . . . The Kings beat the Blackhawks, 6-4, Nov. 25 at the Forum. . . . Mike Allison, acquired Dec. 14 in a trade that sent Sean McKenna to the Toronto Maple Leafs, has 8 goals and 4 assists in 12 games with the Kings. . . .
