Distance runner Ingrid Kristiansen of Norway beat a strong international field in winning the women’s division of the $135,000 Ariadne-Sanctuary Cove 15-kilometer road race at Gold Coast, Australia.
Kristiansen was timed in 50 minutes 21 seconds in hot, humid conditions in earning $27,000 in the richest road race in the world.
New Zealander Lorraine Moller was second in 52:13, with Sylvia Mosqueda, the NCAA cross-country champion from Cal State Los Angeles, third in 52:37.
