The Arizona Wildcats, who had lost their hold on the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press college basketball poll and dropped to third following a loss to New Mexico two weeks ago, returned to the top when Kentucky, the team that had replaced Arizona, lost to Auburn Saturday and fell to fifth.
Arizona, now 14-1, received 25 first-place votes in the poll of sportswriters and broadcasters. North Carolina (11-1) jumped from fourth to second with 11 first-place votes. Oklahoma (14-0) is third and Temple (10-0) fourth.
Trailing Kentucky in the Top 10 are Pittsburgh, Duke, Purdue, Syracuse and Michigan.
