Padres Sign Hawkins, Clark, Wynne to One-Year Contracts
Pitcher Andy Hawkins and outfielders Marvell Wynne and Jerald Clark signed one-year contracts Friday with the Padres.
Hawkins, who was 3-10 with a 5.05 earned-run average in 24 games, including 20 starts, signed for $453,000. He did not pitch from July 26 to Sept. 14 because of tendinitis in his right shoulder.
Wynne, who signed for $255,000, played all outfield positions last year, hitting .250 with two homers and 24 RBIs in 98 games.
Clark was added to the Padres’ major league roster last fall. At double-A Wichita, he hit .313 in 132 games, with 18 home runs and 95 RBIs.
