WCAC Roundup : Jackson Helps USF Pull Away in Second Half and Beat Portland, 80-65

Guard Keith Jackson scored 14 second-half points to lead the University of San Francisco over the University of Portland, 80-65, in a West Coast Athletic Conference game Saturday night in San Francisco.

USF, winning its fifth straight game, is 10-5 overall and 2-0 in WCAC play. Portland is 5-10 and 0-2.

Mark McCathrion led USF with 22 points, and Patrick Clardy had 19. Jackson finished with 18.

Adam Phillips led the Pilots with 20 points.

At halftime, USF led, 37-32, but Portland closed within 46-42 with 14 minutes remaining. Then Jackson and reserve guard Rodney Tention built the lead to 70-56 with four minutes left.

Santa Clara 58, Gonzaga 51--Guard Osei Appiah scored 18 points to lead the Broncos in a WCAC game at Santa Clara.

The Broncos have won 10 straight at home, are 11-4 overall this season and 2-0 in WCAC play. Gonzaga is 9-6 and 0-2.

Doug Spradley led the Bulldogs with 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
