Local News in Brief : Laguna Beach : Short Circuit Starts Blaze in Apartment
An electrical fire caused an estimated $15,000 in smoke damage Sunday morning to a four-unit apartment complex, authorities said.
The fire was reported at 10:56 a.m. in a complex in the 200 block of Lower Cliff Drive. An electrical circuit in the wall of a downstairs apartment shorted out and caught an adjoining bed on fire, according to Fire Capt. Bing Boka.
Smoke from the fire filled the apartment, as well three upstairs units, Boka said. One elderly resident was evacuated but no injuries were reported.
