Actor Todd Bridges was arrested for allegedly driving his BMW about 80 m.p.h. in Northridge, police said Monday. It was the third arrest in just over four years for the 22-year-old star of the series “Diff’rent Strokes.”

Bridges was booked on suspicion of reckless driving after police arrested him about 9:30 p.m. near Parthenia Street and Shirley Avenue, said Sgt. R. Rebhan. Bridges, of Sun Valley, was released on $250 bail two hours later. He could not be reached for comment Monday.

Bridges played Willis Jackson on the NBC comedy series “Diff’rent Strokes,” which first aired in 1978.

Bridges was arrested by Beverly Hills police in 1983 and convicted of a misdemeanor count of carrying a loaded pistol, for which he was fined $240 and given a year’s probation. Shortly after the series was canceled in 1986, Bridges was arrested for making bomb threats against a man he hired to customize his car. He pleaded no contest to that charge.
