The Philadelphia Phillies signed catcher Lance Parrish to a one-year contract for $1 million plus incentives, avoiding an arbitration case, the club announced.
Parrish’s agent, Tom Reich, and team President Bill Giles and Vice President Tony Seigle negotiated a settlement that eliminated the arbitration hearing at which Parrish was to ask for $1.4 million.
Seigle said the incentives were the usual--number of games played, All-Star game participation, MVP and Gold Glove.
