The Alabama Crimson Tide, which locked up two national football titles in its only previous games with Arkansas, will meet the Razorbacks in a home-and-home series beginning in 1993.

Alabama Athletic Director Steve Sloan said the first game will be played Sept. 4, 1993 at Arkansas, with the return game on Sept. 7, 1996 at Alabama.

“It should be an exciting intersectional series because both teams have a long-standing football tradition,” said Sloan. “The games should have high possibilities for television as well.”

Alabama and Arkansas have never met during a regular season but have tangled twice in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans--a 10-3 Tide victory in the 1962 Sugar Bowl and a 24-9 victory in the 1980 Sugar Bowl. Both bowl victories clinched perfect seasons and the No. 1 ranking in The Associated Press poll for Alabama.
