Local News in Brief : Dog License Fees Rise
Effective today, license fees for dogs in Los Angeles that have not been spayed or neutered go from $16 to $18.
The increase, approved by the City Council last year, is expected to raise an additional $100,000 to pay for a new Department of Animal Regulation program aimed at controlling barking and vicious dogs. Spayed or neutered dog license fees remain unchanged at $8.
There are more than 186,200 licensed dogs in the city of Los Angeles.
