After a brief chase, Huntington Beach police arrested two men and a woman Friday on suspicion of armed robbery and grand theft in a robbery of a Main Street clothing store.

The three were suspects in a string of robberies at Susie’s Deals Clothing Stores in Orange County, Lt. Chuck Poe said.

Concerned about the robberies, Susie’s Deals in Huntington Beach recently had installed a silent alarm that rang at police headquarters, Poe said.

At 4 p.m. Friday, the alarm went off. When officers arrived at the store, they saw a man and a woman who matched the description of suspects in the previous robberies getting into a blue car, Poe said.

After a short chase, officers arrested Rudy Duarte, 33 of Santa Monica, the driver, and Annette Duarte, 27, of Colton. Also arrested at the Five Point Shopping Center nearby was Gilbert Medina, 25, of Santa Monica.

Officers later recovered a knife that they believe was used in the robbery and discovered that the car was stolen, Poe said.

All three were arrested and booked at the Huntington Beach Jail on suspicion of armed robbery and grand theft. Rudy Duarte was also arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a narcotic.
