Dog Given Credit for Saving Four From Fire
A family dog has been credited with saving four people from a blazing mobile home near here, firefighters said.
Assistant Fire Chief Jim Somer said the dog, “a small, curly, silvery-gray mutt,” jumped on a bed where Carolyn Whitham was asleep early Friday and began barking. The barking aroused Whitham, who awakened another woman and a teen-ager, and the three fled through a back door with the dog, Somer said.
Another teen-ager was sleeping on a couch, and the three who had fled threw a piece of firewood through a window to awaken him. He escaped through the front door.
