An official of the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. has refused comment on a newspaper report that at least 20 possible rules violations have been uncovered in an investigation of the University of Minnesota men’s athletic program.

Citing anonymous sources, the Star Tribune said that most of the alleged violations occurred between 1984 and 1986, during Jim Dutcher’s last two seasons as basketball coach.

The newspaper also said that two of the alleged violations involved airline flights associated with Gopher quarterback Rickey Foggie.

The possible violations will be reviewed by the six-member NCAA infractions committee at a meeting Feb. 7 in Orlando, Fla.
