Hartless Funeral Set for Thursday
Visitation for San Diego Police Officer Jerry L. Hartless will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Clairemont Mortuary, 4266 Mt. Abernathy Ave.
Funeral services for Hartless, who died Sunday at UC San Diego Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Horizon Christian Fellowship Church, 5331 Mt. Alifan Drive.
Hartless, 24, died after being shot in the head three weeks ago while chasing a group of men through a Southeast San Diego neighborhood known for its drug dealing.
Hartless underwent two operations during his hospitalization, but doctors were unable to remove the bullet from his brain. He never regained consciousness after the shooting, a hospital spokeswoman said.
