Long Beach : Successor to Be Appointed
The Long Beach City College Board of Trustees has decided to appoint, rather than elect, a successor for board President Donald H. Scott, who died last week of complications after heart surgery.
“Their vision is to appoint a person who is agreed upon by the various bargaining units and the management of the college,” said Traci McConnel, a college spokesman.
The action, taken at last Friday’s board meeting, was approved by a unanimous vote of the three board members present. An earlier motion to hold a special election in June died for lack of a second. Board member Trudy Polsky did not participate in the meeting.
According to McConnel, no time frame has been set for the appointment.
