Widom to Head AIA Council for 1989 Term

Chester Widom, a partner of Widom Wein Cohen of Los Angeles, has been elected first vice president/president-elect of the California Council, American Institute of Architects, and he will become president of the group in 1989.

During the same meeting, John Heinly of Robert C. Benson Architects in Long Beach, was elected associate director-elect/South.

Betsey O. Dougherty of Dougherty & Dougherty, Newport Beach, will be the 1988 president, having served as first vice president this past year.

Other new officers are Harry B. Haimovitch of Haimovitch/Associates Architects, Berkeley, treasurer; Michael Stanton of Stanton & Associates, San Francisco, vice president of governmental relations; William Reiner of Bassett & Reiner, San Francisco, AIA regional director, and Nora Klebow of Helmuth Obata & Kassabaum, San Francisco, associate director-elect/North.

Allen York of Albert C. Martin & Associates, Los Angeles, will represent the associate membership on the council’s board of directors after serving in 1987 as associate director-elect/South.

Executive Committee members who will continue their terms are Michael B. Wilkes of Dalawie Bretton Wilkes, San Diego, secretary; Douglas A. Austin of Austin Hansen Fehlman Group, San Diego, vice president of communications/public Affairs, and Lawrence P. Segrue of Octagon Associates, Visalia, vice president of professional practice.
