Local rock ‘n’ roll wild man Mojo Nixon will be taking his outlandish blues to Australia this month. He and his sidekick, percussionist Skid Roper, leave Friday to promote Nixon’s recent album “Bo-Day-Shus!!!” in the “land down under” with an Australian band, The Johnnys. Nixon said shows will be performed in Sydney and Melbourne and on several college campuses.

“We’re hoping to cause a ruckus,” Nixon said.

The San Diego-based Nixon can also be found on Music Television (MTV) three or four times a day, ranting and raving. The Enigma recording artist recently taped several promotional segments for MTV.

“I had a lot of qualms about doing the promotion at first,” Nixon said. “I did stipulate that I would never actually mention MTV during the segments. MTV figures by having me pontificate for a couple of seconds they look like they’re on the cutting edge and I can get more exposure.”
