Local News in Brief : Tustin : Intersection Shooting Leaves Man Wounded
A bar fight in Santa Ana led to a shooting early Tuesday at a stop light in Tustin, leaving one man with a bullet in his back, authorities said.
Jorge Moran Zarate, 29, of Santa Ana was listed in critical but stable condition at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana after he was shot once by a man in a pickup truck who followed him from a bar, authorities said.
Zarate and a companion, Carlos Rangel, 27, of Santa Ana, had argued with two unidentified men at Maggie’s Bar on Bristol Street in Santa Ana, said Sgt. Mike Shanahan.
The men, in a blue pickup truck, followed Zarate and Rangel when they left the bar shortly after 2 a.m., Shanahan said.
At the intersection of Red Hill and Walnut avenues, the pickup driver fired two shots from a handgun when Rangel’s car stalled at a red light, Shanahan said. One bullet pierced the car’s trunk and struck Zarate, who was in the passenger seat.
No arrests have been made, Shanahan said.
