Local News in Brief : Man, 54, Found Beaten to Death in His Home
Los Angeles police said Tuesday they are investigating the beating death of a 54-year-old man whose body was found in a Sepulveda home, where he had lived alone.
The body of Gail Layne Montgomery was discovered about 11:30 a.m. Monday in his home in the 16000 block of Nordhoff Street, police said.
Detective Michael Brandt said Montgomery died of a blow to the head. He had been dead several days before his body was found by a neighbor, the detective said. The neighbor was checking on Montgomery because he had not shown up for work Monday, Brandt said.
