Cincinnati Coach Takes Death Threat Seriously
Cincinnati Coach Tony Yates chose not to be be present at Wednesday night’s game against St. Louis University because of a death threat, university officials said.
“The university is taking the threat seriously,” read a statement issued by Cincinnati.
The threat came from a man who called the Bearcats’ office Tuesday afternoon and said Yates would be killed while in St. Louis, officials said.
While Yates remained in his hotel room, assistant coach Ken Turner coached Wednesday in his absence. Cincinnati lost the game, 80-73.
