Placentia’s El Dorado High School received seven awards, including one for an outstanding scene presentation, at last weekend’s California State Thespian Conference at Cypress College. El Dorado, whose winning scene was from an original work, “Hope, Struggle and Victory,” was one of four schools honored in the scene competition (the others were Bakersfield High, Pico Rivera’s El Rancho High and Los Angeles Baptist High). In a special all-festival show, El Dorado students winning individual awards were Merritt Claudine, Paul Haggerty, Mischa Marx and Brooke Wilkes, acting; and Tammy Dearen and Angela Snyder, technical. Altogether, 600 students from 47 schools participated in the annual statewide festival.
