Police and sheriff’s deputies have arrested two people and seized 10,000 pills in what they said was a scheme to sell stolen pharmaceutical drugs from an Oroville motel room. Authorities booked Duane Hastings, 51, and Deborah Conforte, 33, of Oroville into Butte County Jail on suspicion of possession of drugs for sale, possession of stolen property and parole violations. Sheriff’s Cmdr. Mitch Brown said about $20,000 worth of pills were found, including codeine, Darvon, Valium and others. Authorities said they suspect the pills were stolen from local pharmacies.
