Seeing Double

Next time you think you see Linda Evans walking down the streets of Los Angeles--look again. Instead, it might be Scotland’s Nancy Smith.

Since entering and winning a look-alike contest conducted by London’s Woman Magazine last year, the 47-year-old housewife--and grandmother--has enjoyed a trip to the Waldorf in London, and an opportunity to join a look-alike agency and appear on the BBC. Next month, she’ll be heading for Hollywood, her prize for beating the competition.

A natural blonde, Smith began imitating Evan’s “Dynasty” character Krystle--hairdo, clothes, mannerisms--when “Dynasty” first aired in Scotland in 1981. And it’s paid off.

“I’m very pleased and proud that I won,” she told us by phone. “I’m very excited about visiting Hollywood. My husband is too. He put me up to it (entering the contest). It’s like a dream come true.”

Alas, when the Smiths arrive, Nancy’s other dream--of meeting Evans on the “Dynasty” set--won’t be realized. The show will be on hiatus by then and a meeting with Evans would be nearly impossible, according to a spokesperson for the show.
