An English avant-garde ensemble had a thorny problem when it gave a concert in London Friday using cacti. The music student group Opus played Child of Tree for Amplified Plants by American composer John Cage, which included tapping and drumming the prickly succulents. “It really hurts when you get one of the spines stuck in your hand or arm,” Opus member Elizabeth Ford--her hands covered with scratches--said after the concert.
