Local News in Brief : Throwing Money Away

Share

Three men suspected of robbing an Encino restaurant were arrested after they threw money out the window of their getaway car in North Hollywood, Los Angeles police said.

“It was raining money,” Detective Ed Pikor said. “We got most of it back, though.”

Police said the robbery occurred about 10:30 p.m. Sunday when three men, one carrying a handgun, took $200 from employees at Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers on Ventura Boulevard.

After a description of the getaway car was broadcast to police, two officers spotted the vehicle and tried to stop it as it exited the Ventura Freeway onto Laurel Canyon Boulevard. But the car sped up and its occupants threw the money out the window, police said.

The driver finally pulled over, and police arrested Forrest Davis, 29, Shawn Washington, 20, and Edgar Lockhart, 23, all of downtown Los Angeles, on suspicion of armed robbery.

Officers were able to recover $181.
