Nevada Las Vegas Loses Basnight but Easily Defeats Pacific, 77-61
Gerald Paddio scored 18 points, and Anthony Cook added 15 Thursday night as eighth-ranked Nevada Las Vegas overcame the loss of forward Jarvis Basnight and beat Pacific, 77-61, in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. game, the Tigers’ 18th consecutive loss.
Basnight, the 6-foot 8-inch forward who is second in the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. in field goal percentage at 68.2%, was knocked unconscious in the opening minute when he was elbowed by Pacific’s Holger Fuerst under the backboard.
Basnight came to after a minute and was taken to a local hospital. There was no report on his condition.
Nevada Las Vegas, 24-3 overall and 13-2 in the PCAA, led 34-30 at halftime and pulled away quickly in the second half.
Christian Gray scored 16 points to lead Pacific (5-20 and 0-14).
