Dropped Brick Injures Motorist
A 30-year-old driver suffered critical head injuries when he was struck by a brick that shattered the fiberglass roof of his sports car as he drove along Interstate 5, police said today.
Kirk Meyering was in critical and stable condition this morning at Mercy Hospital, where doctors operated for more than 3 1/2 hours after the Monday night incident. Police are treating the case as an attempted murder, said a spokeswoman of the San Diego Police Department. Initial investigation indicated that the brick was thrown off a highway overpass.
