Fireworks Advisory Vote Out in Stanton

Share

The Stanton City Council has decided against a June advisory election on whether to ban the sale, use and distribution of so-called safe-and-sane fireworks.

The city’s community affairs committee had recommended last September that the council not hold a special election on the fireworks ban. After public hearings in July and August, the committee had concluded that the public wanted safe-and-sane fireworks to remain legal within the city limits.

Although the council voted unanimously Tuesday night to maintain the status quo through this Fourth of July, it did leave open the possibility of placing the question on the November ballot.
