Lynn Freer, 38, of Orange, who has been involved in publicizing a group of tax consultants recognized by the Internal Revenue Service, has been named Enrolled Agent of the Year by her organization, the California Assn. of Enrolled Agents.

The association also appointed Freer chairman of its public information post.

The 3,200 California Enrolled Agents members are tax preparers “enrolled” by the IRS to represent taxpayers before all levels of the IRS. The other two categories recognized by the IRS are certified public accountants and attorneys.

“Dealing with the IRS can be stressful and confusing,” Freer said. “Good people skills are just as important as math ability in this business.”
