Sen. Green Seeks Reelection in 33rd District
State Sen. Cecil Green (D-Norwalk) filed his candidate nomination papers Friday, announcing his bid to retain the 33rd District seat he won last year in a special election.
Green, a former Norwalk councilman, defeated Assemblyman Wayne Grisham (R-Norwalk) last May in the most expensive state Senate race in state history. This year, he will face opposition from either Cerritos Councilman Donald Knabe or former Hawaiian Gardens Councilwoman Maggie Vineyard, the two Republican primary contenders.
Mentioning law and order, worker safety and consumer issues, Green said he was proud of his first year in office and cited the endorsements of the mayors of Los Alamitos, Cypress, La Palma and Garden Grove. Green’s district also includes La Palma.
