Paintings by highly regarded Bay Area artists William Wiley and Charles Garabedian have been donated to the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art by San Diego art patrons Danah Fayman and Michael Krichman.

Fayman, a former museum trustee, donated “Henry Inn No. 5,” a 1978 Garabedian painting, and “Nothing to Blame,” a 1979 painting by Wiley. “Nothing to Blame” and three related drawings that were also included in Fayman’s gift are the first works by Wiley to enter the museum’s permanent collection.

A second painting by Garabedian, “Ruin VI” (1981-82), has been donated by Krichman and his wife, Leslie Simon. Krichman, a San Diego lawyer, was a founder of the museum’s Contemporary Collectors group.

The museum has also announced the recent purchase of a painting by Massachusetts artist Gregory Gillespie, in honor of the late Susan Kockritz, a 30-year trustee of the museum. Gillespie’s “Still-Life With Watermelon” (1986-87) and the Garabedian and Wiley works will all be included in the museum’s “Permanent Collection II” exhibition to open March 19.
