A 9-year-old Gardena boy who stole the family car and led police on a high-speed chase that ended in the death of another motorist has been charged with three felonies, including vehicular manslaughter.

The boy, whose name was withheld because of his age, also faces arraignment in Inglewood Juvenile Court on counts of auto theft and evading arrest, as well as one misdemeanor count of hit-and-run driving, district attorney’s spokesman Al Albergate said.

The boy was arrested Jan. 13 after taking his father’s 1972 Buick without permission and leading police on a three-mile chase at speeds up to 100 m.p.h., officials said.
