After deputies found an ounce of rock cocaine in his car, Brent King, who said he has AIDS and wants to get his life in order, directed them to a larger stash at his Hawthorne apartment, authorities said.

King, 27, was booked on suspicion of possession of cocaine for sale and held in lieu of $50,000 bail Tuesday at the Lennox sheriff’s substation after deputies found a half pound of rock cocaine in his apartment, Deputy Detta Roberts said.

Deputies had stopped King’s car on Imperial Highway and Larch Avenue about 5 p.m. for a traffic violation, Roberts said. A sheriff’s spokesman said the department had not confirmed whether King has AIDS.
