Orbison, Coasters to Launch Oldies Rock Series at Disneyland

Roy Orbison and the Coasters will launch a series of weekend rock ‘n’ roll oldies concerts at Disneyland beginning March 19 and continuing through May 22.

The shows are part of “Blast to the Past,” a continuing program in which the theme park will take on trappings from the ‘50s and ‘60s.

Other rockers who will be performing in the series include Chuck Berry, the Four Tops, the Righteous Brothers, Gary (U.S.) Bonds, the Ventures, Little Anthony, Frankie Avalon, the Spinners, Paul Revere and the Raiders, the Platters, the Rivingtons, the Olympics and Butch Rillera and Bim Bam.

So far, dates and times have been announced only for Orbison and the Coasters. Both acts will appear March 19 and 20. Orbison will perform at 6, 7:15 and 9 p.m. at the Videopolis nightspot, and the Coasters, at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30 p.m. at the Tomorrowland Terrace.

Orbison also will be performing at the Celebrity Theatre in Anaheim April 9, as previously announced.
