Arrests on Chapman Ave.
Regarding your editorial on the actions of the Orange Police Department (March 2): Have you forgotten that people standing along the street make it difficult to approach many of the business establishments and that they do litter and drink alcoholic beverages on public sidewalks? Who pays for the cleanup? We all do.
Have you also forgotten that an overwhelming majority of the people who were stopped were found to be unable to provide documentation of legal residence--they were in this country illegally. In other words, they were breaking the law. These people knew they were breaking the law when they smuggled themselves across the border. They knew the possible consequences.
If I were found to be in a foreign country without a passport, visa or work permit, I too would expect to be deported.
