- Unable to pay the rent, theater perennial Edythe Pirazzini has closed the Mission Playhouse--again. Since she reopened the venerable institution two years ago this month in the Marina Village mall on Mission Bay, Pirazzini staged nine plays including “Top Girls,” “Hurly Burly” and “Dylan,” which finished its run Saturday.

“I’m not discouraged,” said the indomitable director-producer, a feisty figure on the San Diego theater scene for more than three decades.

“I saved my light board and my lights.”
