La Mirada : New Human Services Panel

Share

The La Mirada City Council has authorized the establishment of a five-member Human Services Commission to help handle local social service programs. The council-appointed panel will be formed by June, when it will start meeting monthly. City Manager Gary Sloan said local programs have become so extensive that the council decided it could use some assistance in reviewing services and their financing. The city spends about $300,000 a year on social programs, including counseling, the local volunteer center and Meals on Wheels.
