Los Angeles’ Eastside was a police target for a gang roundup Sunday afternoon.
Police from the Hollenbeck Division arrested 33 members of six identifiable gangs operating in the El Sereno, Highland Park and Boyle Heights neighborhoods, Lt. Sergio Robleto said.
Included in the Boyle Heights sweep were arrests at the big Ramona Gardens and Aliso Gardens housing projects.
Offenses ranged from carrying illegal firearms and cocaine sales to drinking in public, police reported.
“We need to send these people the message that they’ll get the same love and affection as their counterparts down in the south end have been getting,” Robleto said.
