2 Players Win $2,408,691 Apiece in Lotto
Two Southern Californians who let the computer pick lucky numbers for them won $2,408,691 apiece in the latest “Lotto 6/49” game, a California Lottery spokesman announced Sunday.
The winning tickets were purchased at Orcutt Liquor in the Santa Barbara County town of Orcutt and at Osborne Liquor in Pacoima.
While the two people using the “quick-pick” system got all six numbers correct, nobody bought tickets good in the 5-of-6 plus bonus number category, so that $1.3-million pool will be added to the jackpot for the next game, Lottery spokesman John Schade said.
In the five-of-six category, 144 people won $4,738 each, and 8,092 gamblers won $76 apiece for getting four numbers right.
Sales for the game were $12.4 million, of which $4.2 million is designated for schools.
The jackpot for the next “Lotto 6/49” game, which ends Wednesday night, was expected to be about $7 million.
