The State : Drug Dealers Burn Woman
An Oakland woman was listed in stable condition after being doused with gasoline and set afire by drug dealers angry over a $50 cocaine debt, police said. The 36-year-old woman, whom investigators declined to identify, received second- and third-degree burns over 15% of her upper body. “This is my first time to find something like this in a coke deal,” Oakland Police Sgt. Roy Williams said. Witnesses told police a group of men confronted the victim about her drug debt, then beat her, drove her around in the trunk of a car and set her on fire. Police said the incident occurred in a section of north Oakland that has been plagued by heavy cocaine use.
