Traffic Lights’ Timing to Change in 2 Valleys

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved a plan to ease congestion along four major roadways in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys by readjusting the timing of traffic signals.

The plan approved Tuesday is the first phase of a five-year effort proposed by Supervisor Mike Antonovich to improve traffic flow countywide by synchronizing traffic signals. The supervisors voted to reserve $1.2 million a year for the project over the next five years.

Dawson Oppenheimer, a spokesman for Antonovich, said county traffic engineers have singled out the roadways as among the most congested in the two valleys.
