The agent for free-agent linebacker Andre Tippett has approached the Raiders and San Francisco 49ers, according to the Boston Globe. However, Ron Wolf, personnel director of the Raiders, said he knew nothing of any negotiations.

The agent, Al Nero of Chicago, was unavailable for comment.

Tippett, a perennial All-Pro, is among 22 New England Patriots and 525 National Football League players who became free agents when their contracts expired Feb. 1. All are subject to the expired collective bargaining agreement, which requires any club signing a free agent in the top pay scale to give his former club two first-round draft choices.
