Major trans-Sierra highways will open as much as a month early this year as a result of the season’s light snowfall and warm temperatures, officials said. California 108 will reopen to Kennedy Meadows on April 1 and will open all the way over Sonora Pass to California 395 on Memorial Day, Caltrans said. California 4, at Ebbetts Pass, will be plowed to Lake Alpine by April 15 and will be open all the way over the summit by April 30, also a month ahead of schedule, officials said. California 120 from Tioga Pass through Yosemite, which is maintained by the National Park Service, will open at least by Memorial Day weekend, officials said. Monitor Pass, south of Lake Tahoe on California 89, reopened March 27.
