Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

Boring, boring, boring. That’s what they’re saying about Billboard magazine’s top-five spots on the pop album chart. For three weeks now, there’s been no change at all in their placement. Perhaps next week there will be some movement, for bubbling under the Top 10 are Guns N’ Roses’ “Appetite for Destruction” (No. 12), Terence Trent D’Arby’s “Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D’Arby” (No. 13) and Kingdom Come’s fast-rising “Kingdom Come” (No. 16). Billy Ocean’s “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car” is the new No. 1 pop single. The next No. 1 single may be Whitney Houston’s “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” (No. 5).

* With this sound-track sequel jumping to No. 6, for the first time there are two sound tracks from the same movie in the Top 10. With “Dirty Dancing” cruising along at the top of the pop chart, don’t rule out the possibility of the original and sequel holding the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in the next few weeks.
